Welcome, Yang Zhang!

Since February 2019 Dr. Yang Zhang is a new postdoctoral scientist in the Angiogenesis & Metabolism Laboratory. Yang received his Ph.D. degree from Uppsala University in Sweden, where he worked with renown lymphatic researcher Dr. Taija Mäkinen. During his doctoral work, Yang investigated mesentery-specific mechanisms of vascular development. Specifically, he uncovered novel functions of platelets in maintaining venous integrity and lymphatic vessels – beautiful work that was published in Development in 2018. In his postdoctoral work, Yang will change his scientific direction and focus on organotypic roles of blood endothelial cells.
